LINC team

I do hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are now ready for all those New Year Resolutions. We have some lovely events for you this year starting with our ‘Get Lean for LINC’ campaign to help you shed those extra pounds.

In February there is a special film evening for Fifty Shades of Grey whilst in March we have a Fashion Show at Cirencester Park courtesy of our Patron, the Countess Bathurst. On April 18th there is a dedicated Parachute Day where we have reserved 20 places for LINC supporters. For walkers there will be a 12 mile circular walk around Bath on Saturday 2nd May and our annual cycle ride is on Sunday 14 June with the Golf Day on Wednesday 24th.

The LINC 100 club still needs some members – it is only £3 per month or £36 as an annual payment – if you haven’t already signed up, please do.

LINC continues to give financial help to patients and their families when they are in difficulty as a result of their illness. Hopefully we will soon have a new clinical psychologist who will work 3 days a week. With the 2 days that Nikki already works there will then be the equivalent of one full time post. This will make an enormous difference to those who are unable to benefit from this service at the moment due to lack of availability.

When asked how LINC could improve the in- patient experience, many patients have asked for Sky TV. This may seem like a luxury but spare a moment to think what it must be like to be shut in a small room for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for anything from six weeks to six months. If you then take a look at what the terrestrial and free TV stations offer in the way of daytime television – you might appreciate why the need for Sky. I am in negotiation with BSkyB TV and sincerely hope they will make some concession. This will involve a monthly payment from LINC and I would like to think that the LINC 100 Club would contribute towards this expense.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us in 2014 – we couldn’t give the help we do without you. With interest rates remaining low, it is more difficult for us to get grants from the larger Grant Making Trusts so your support is even more important so please continue to support us in any way you can during 2015.
