Welcome to our Summer newsletter! At the time of writing, the weather is still cold and it certainly doesn’t feel like summer. However, it has been a very positive quarter for LINC and one in which we have had several successful fundraising events.
Of these the most glamorous has to have been the Champagne Tea Party at Ellenborough Park Hotel with guest speaker Fiona Fullerton. After a very retro English tea Fiona told us about her new book describing her friendship with a man of Russian descent who was wrongly imprisoned in this country on charges of spying. It was a fascinating story and Dear Fiona: Letters from a Suspected Soviet Spy is well worth reading. I am also delighted to say that Fiona has agreed to be involved with LINC and to help with raising funds for our Make a Difference Campaign to provide more Clinical Psychology time for our haematology patients.
I have also had the privilege of showing our most recent Patron, the world famous artist, PJ Crook round the LINC unit, Rendcomb Ward where inpatient treatment is given and the LINC Edward Jenner Unit at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital where the majority of our patients now receive outpatient treatment.
We are now looking forward to the LINC Golf Day (3 July) and the Fairy Fun Run (11 August). You would be very welcome at any or all of these events. Thank you for your support.
