After last year’s rain, the sun came out and shone down on Pittville Park. The grounds were magically transformed into a plethora of pirate dens and magical fairy trees filled with wands and pink streamers.
There was an air of anticipation as a colourful array of pretty fairies of all ages and pirates began to arrive at the distinctive blue LINC gazebo in front of the Pump Rooms. The LINC team were so pleased to have so many new faces registering on the day and grateful to those who had done a splendid job of raising sponsorship money.
There was a carnival atmosphere with a bouncy castle, face painting and a visit from the Gloucestershire Fire Brigade. After a Zumba warm up led by Lucy Heath, the runners set off, encouraged by the lovely Miss Cheltenham, Sophie Lydia Smith. Some ran 1km around the lake and others tackled the 5km route which took them around the large boating lake three times. All of our fabulous runners received a special medal as they crossed the finishing line with beaming smiles and an enormous sense of achievement.
Thank you so much to our wonderful volunteers, the team from Waitrose who helped transform the Park into a magical place, for DR BOB for his appearance and to all the marshals who lined the route.
It was a special morning, filled with happiness and excitement. Everyone’s efforts raised over £1500 which was a fantastic achievement. We look forward to seeing all of our wonderful fairies and pirates again next year.
